Two members of Boy Scout Troop 169 celebrate double Eagle Court of Honor

Matthew D. Scherrer and John W. Korpecki recently celebrated a double Eagle Scout Court of Honor at Assumption Catholic Church.

They are members of Assumption Parish Boy Scout Troop 169. Their parents are Dave and Cindy Scherrer and William and Jeanette Korpecki.

Scherrer has earned 21 merit badges, received the Ad Altare Dei Catholic Religious Medal and was elected to the Order of the Arrow. He also served in various leadership positions within his troop.

His Eagle project consisted of planning, assembling and installing permanent fixtures for grilling at the Mary, Mother Athletic Fields.

Scherrer attended summer camps at S-F Scout Ranch in Missouri as well as National Youth Leadership Training. Scherrer hiked the Philmont High Adventure Scout Ranch last summer in New Mexico.

Korpecki has earned 24 merit badges, received the Ad Altare Dei Catholic Religious Medal and was elected to the Order of the Arrow. He also served in various leadership positions within his troop.

His Eagle project consisted of redefining the Assumption Athletic Equipment closet.

Korpecki has attended summer camps at S-F Scout Ranch in Missouri as well as National Youth Leadership Training, and also worked as staff in 2010. He hiked the Philmont High Adventure Scout Ranch last summer in New Mexico.

Scherrer is a junior at St. Louis University High School.

Korpecki is a freshman at St. Louis University High School.
