Trash meeting ‘entertaining, if not enlightening’

The Sept. 24 meeting with the St. Louis County Solid Waste Management Task Force at Affton High School was entertaining, if not enlightening.

The task force of government bureaucrats were faced with finding a solution to the huge problem of low recycling of trash in unincorporated St. Louis County. They discovered the root cause — “a competitive waste management market”— as predictable as rain in a monsoon season.

So how do we fix it? Put all trash collection under the control of the same bureaucrats. Eliminate the competition.

I’d love to know which companies and/or their agents have donated campaign funds to these county elected officials over the last two years. I will wager it would shed a lot of light on the findings in the report.
