Traffic shifts on northbound lanes of Interstate 270 at Interstate 44

Monday morning commuters likely noticed a vastly different traffic pattern on northbound Interstate 270 at the Interstate 44 interchange.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has a temporary work zone for bridge repairs on northbound I-270 between the I-44 interchange and over Rott Road, located just north of Gravois Road (Route 30).

Drivers will see traffic split into three left lanes and two right lanes open. One of the right two lanes will exit to I-44 eastbound and the Watson Road (Route 366) ramps. This means the work zone is now in the middle of northbound I-270.

Northbound I-270 will have reduced lane widths, and the speed limit is lowered to 45 mph through this work zone.

All lanes of I-270 will be open during heavy weekday traffic. Access to the I-44 ramps will be open, but with shorter merges to exit and entrance ramps.

This work is part of the I-270 rehabilitation projects on the northbound and southbound I-270 bridges over Rott Road and the I-270 bridges over I-44. The work zones will remain in place around the clock.
