‘Taste Of Beasley’ raises funds for new SMART Boards

Beasley Elementary School will get two new SMART Boards thanks to the “Taste of Beasley” sponsored by the school’s PTO earlier this month.

SMART Boards are electronic blackboards that let teachers deliver dynamic lessons, write notes in digital ink and store their work on computers.

The “Taste of Beasley” is the school’s largest fundraiser and this year featured 21 restaurants and 31 vendors.

Hundreds of people packed the cafeteria and gymnasium for the event, and the halls were filled with vendors selling jewelry, arts and crafts, Christmas items and clever knickknacks. Ticket sales and booth fees added up to $3,100 for the PTO.

Proceeds from the “Taste of Beasley” are used each year to purchase new technology for the school.
