Sunset Hills Ward 3 Alderman Randy Epperson attended his last board meeting Dec. 12. He was presented a service award plaque from the city for his time serving as an alderman and for the eight years he spent on the Police Advisory Board.

Effective January 31, Epperson will no longer be a member of the board as he is moving out of the city. Ward 4 Alderman Lindsay Hof has taken over his position on the Police Advisory Board, and soon Mayor Pat Fribis will nominate a candidate to be approved by the Board of Aldermen to fill his seat there.

A statement posted by Epperson on Facebook said that 2023 has been a year of significant changes and challenges in his personal life. Because of this, he has decided to sell his home and move to a more manageable villa nearby, thus causing him to resign from his roles in the city.

“My words cannot express what a pleasure and honor it has been to serve all of you for the past three years, as well as having the opportunity to serve on and chair the Sunset Hills Police Advisory Board,” Epperson wrote. “Sunset Hills is a wonderful community. I am so proud and fortunate to have had the privilege of not only raising my family here but to have been able to work alongside such talented, hardworking, first class employees and elected officials. I will miss all of them and all of you.”

Anyone interested in serving as the interim Ward 3 alderman should contact Fribis, Ward 3 Alderman Cathy Friedmann or City Administrator Brittany Gillett as soon as possible.
