The Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen swore in April election winners and selected a new board president April 26.

Incumbents Mayor Pat Fribis, Ward 1 Alderman Ann McMunn, Ward 2 Alderman Casey Wong and Ward 3 Alderman Cathy Friedmann were sworn in after previously holding their elected offices, while Ward 4 Alderman Lindsay Hof was sworn in as the only new member. McMunn, Wong and Friedmann were unopposed in their races, while Fribis faced a challenge from Ward 2 Alderman Christine Lieber. Hof overcame a write-in challenge on election day from Sunset Hills Planning and Zoning Commission member Mike Svoboda.

Hof took former alderman Thompson Price’s seat after he decided not to run for reelection. Price served on the board from 2016 to 2022 and was honored for his time as board president, chair of the Economic Development Committee and as a member of the Public Works Committee and Police Advisory Board.

Board president

Lieber, who ran against Fribis for mayor in April, was nominated for board president by Ward 3 Alderman Randy Epperson and subsequently was unanimously elected.

Wong questioned if it was possible to nominate himself for board president but was told somewhat jokingly by Epperson that no one would vote for him.

“I’m okay (then), I’m not feeling the love,” Wong said.
