Sunset Hills Community Center will reopen starting Monday

The Sunset Hills Community Center will reopen for fitness only Monday, June 15, with limited hours and restrictions due to COVID-19.

The Community Center had been closed since March 16 to stop the spread of the coronavirus. St. Louis County is allowing gyms to reopen starting Monday, with restrictions on operations.

The new hours the Community Center will be open will be:

Monday through Thursday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. to noon
Sunday: Closed

The new precautions put in place due to COVID-19 will include:

  • Limiting the number of members in fitness center at one time to 20 per hour
  • Members must schedule a workout time by calling 314-842-7265 or registering online at https://app.waitwhile.com/book/sunsethillscomm up to seven days in advance.
  • Workout Times: 
    • Monday – Thursday: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., noon to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m. to 5:30pm, 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
    • Friday: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., noon to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. 
    • Saturday: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • Staff will be deep cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces and equipment in between time slots.
  • Guests and staff will have their temperatures checked at entry.
  • Liability waiver/questionnaire must be signed upon entry.
  • The city is asking exercisers to wear masks or face coverings during entry and exiting of facility but not while exercising.
  • Guests are also asked to wipe down equipment with sanitizing wipes before and after use.
  • Showers will be closed at this time.
  • Water fountain is not operable, except for water bottle filling station.
  • The facility will be open to members only, no walk-ins or daily passes will be sold.
  • The gymnasium will be used as overflow for fitness equipment and additional walking space.
  • Fitness equipment has been rearranged and relocated around the facility to allow for social distancing. Some equipment has been removed per St. Louis County reopening guidelines.
  • No group exercise classes will be held at this time.  The city will reevaluate in a couple of weeks.
  • No open gym, organized activities or pickup activities at this time (basketball, volleyball, pickleball, et cetera)
  • No meeting rooms will be open at this time.

“Thank you for your patience during this time. We will evaluate and make adjustments in the coming weeks,” the city said on its website.
