In collaboration with the St. Louis County Continuum of Care, the St. Louis County Police Department, local service providers and volunteers, the St. Louis County Department of Human Services is conducting the 2025 Point-In-Time Count – the annual census of unhoused residents – on Jan. 23 from 5 to 9 a.m.
The Salvation Army – Family Haven, 10740 Page Ave., 63132, will serve as the operational hub for the event. Staff and volunteers will coordinate efforts and provide support from the central location before splitting into groups to canvas different areas of the county.
St. Louis County Police officers will accompany teams as they canvass neighborhoods and locations throughout the county to ensure the safety of volunteers and participants. Individuals encountered during the count will receive resources tailored to their needs.
“Every individual we meet represents a story and a need,” Ambur Banner, director of the St. Louis County Department of Human Services, stated in a press release. “The information we gather helps us ensure that no one in our community is overlooked and that resources are directed where they are most needed. Together, we can make meaningful strides toward ending homelessness in St. Louis County.”
Mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the 2025 Point-In-Time Count plays a vital role in assessing the needs of unhoused individuals and families in St. Louis County, securing and maintaining funding for housing and support services and guiding future housing and service initiatives for the region.
“By participating in this census, Saint Louis County reaffirms its commitment to creating a community where everyone has access to safe, stable housing and the resources they need to thrive,” County Executive Sam Page stated in a press release. “While this count is a key event, St. Louis County is committed every day to addressing homelessness through a variety of services.”
