Friday, May 10

  • Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road, will host its annual Star Wars Fan Fest from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with crafts, a costume contest and special guest, E.K. Johnston, author of “Queens Shadow.”
  • St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3517 Jeffco Blvd., is hosting its annual Block Party from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is free, with food, face painting, vintage car display, fireworks and more.
  • Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 765 Lemay Ferry Road, will host a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • The Crestwood Community Center, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane, will host family Nerf Wars from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Safety glasses and Nerf darts will be provided. Bring your own Nerf gun and a guardian. No automatic guns. $9 for residents, $11 for non-residents.
  • Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, will host a presentation by railroad enthusiast Ed Smith, of the National Museum of Transportation, at 7 p.m.
  • A jitterswing dance will be held at the Concord Farmers Club, 10140 Concord School Road. Lessons start at 7 p.m. and dancing begins at 8 p.m.

  • Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, will host National Train Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn about the history of railroading. The event is free and no reservations are required.
  • Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 765 Lemay Ferry Road, will host a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to noon. $3 bags of clothes. Other items will be half-price, except jewelry.
  • The Crestwood Community Center, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane, and the St. Louis Astronomical Society will host a night of stargazing from 7 to 9 p.m. Equipment will be provided. Coolers, snacks and drinks are welcome, but no glass.
