Friday, May 10 

  • Crochet granny squares for Warm Up America at “Crochet for a Cause” hosted by the Cliff Cave Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 5430 Telegraph Road, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Open to adults.

  • The Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road, is hosting its “12th Annual Star Wars Fan Fest” from 6 – 8 p.m. A giant celebration of all things Star Wars, this event features costume characters from the 501st Legion, Dancakes Pancake art, Kona Ice, Gateway Lego Builders, crafts, games and more. Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character. Open to all ages. 

Saturday, May 11 

  • The Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, is hosting a program titled “Chinese Immigration During the Civil War era” from 11 a.m. – noon. For background, in 1875, President Ulysses S. Grant signed the Page Act into law, prohibiting Chinese women from immigrating to the United States. It was the first federal immigration restriction to be enacted into law following the Civil War. In this program, historian and curator Nick Sacco will discuss the history of Chinese immigration to the United States, debates over immigration during Grant’s presidency and Grant’s own evolution in thinking.   • Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3600 Hampton Ave., has worship recorded and streamed every Sunday at 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Facebook and Youtube, and in-person.
