The books are told in first person, as if Lincoln himself is telling the story. In ‘Lincoln and Douglas,’ Jacobi presents the 25-year relationship between these two remarkable men. First friends and colleagues, then rivals and enemies. Lincoln and Douglas returned to friendship when they both stood up for the Union in 1861. Without Douglas, there would be no Lincoln.
