Some Mehlville schools on supervised dismissals after three people shot in Oakville, police say

Four schools in the Mehlville School District are on modified dismissals Monday afternoon after a a shooting in Oakville.

According to police, three people were shot Monday afternoon after officers responded to a call for a shooting at about 1:50 p.m. in the 5600 block of Chalet Hill Drive. Two individuals have been pronounced deceased, while the third waas transported to an area hospital for treatment. Part of Chalet Hill and Baumgartner Road remain blocked off due to police activity, and officers encourage motorists to avoid the area.

Oakville High School and Oakville Middle School dismissed with extra supervision, while Oakville Elementary and Wohlwend Elementary will remain on a “SECURE” status until their regular dismissal time, which will also include extra supervision.

A SECURE is called when the threat is outside the school building. Students and staff remain indoors and conduct business as usual.
