Ryan Daniel Wenk, a member of Boy Scout Troop 581 of Crestwood, recently was named the 2004-2005 Scout of the Year by the Veteran of Foreign Wars De-partment of Missouri.

After receiving the state honor, Wenk was entered in the VFW’s national competition for Scout of the Year and placed fifth.

Wenk has been a member of Troop 581 of the Greater St Louis Area Council. since 1999. He is an Eagle Scout, a member of the Order of the Arrow and has earned the God and Church Award, God and Life Award, Interpreter Stripe, World Conservation Award and Leave No Trace badge.

A graduate of the Junior Leader Training Course, Wenk has served in numerous leadership positions within his troop, and has earned 61 merit badges during his ten-ure in Scouting.
