Sale of holiday cards benefits patients in need

To help celebrate the season, the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is offering holiday greeting cards featuring five colorful photographs.

Sales of the cards, which come in a boxed set of five for $5, benefit Joanne Knight Breast Health Center patients in need.

Each card features a photo by St. Louis-area photographer Karen Kotner, whose work hangs in the breast health center at Siteman. There, the colorful photography offers inspiration to patients who come for annual testing, as well as to thoseĀ battling cancer, according to a news release.

Inside each card is a message: “Best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season and a Healthy New Year.”

Every artist aims to influence others, and Kotner said she’s pleased cancer patients have found inspiration in her work.

“I am thrilled that my art has had such an impact on patients, both visually and emotionally, and that the sale of these cards can help patients who might otherwise not be able to afford mammography and other important medical tests,” she stated in the release.

The cards can be purchased at the Barnard Health and Cancer Information Center in the lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine on Siteman’s main campus, 4921 Parkview Place, St. Louis, or by calling (314) 454-8167 or (314) 362-7844.
