Retired educators lobby for more school funding

Thirty-five members of the Mehlville Retired Educators’ Association recently traveled to Jefferson City to lobby for full funding and additional funding for public education in Missouri.

They were joined by 45 other retired teachers from Region 8 of the Missouri Retired Teachers’ Association. Region 8 encompasses St. Louis County, Jefferson County, Franklin County, Jefferson County and the city of St. Louis. The retired educators had the opportunity to visit with many state representatives and senators during their visit to Jefferson City.

The lobby trip was organized by Jack M. Jordan, who currently serves as legislative chairman of the Mehlville Retired Educators’ Association, the St. Louis Suburban Retired Educators’ Association and the Missouri Retired Teachers’ Association.

In addition, Jeanne Crews, Jim Crews, Jordan and his wife, Lois, attended a recent legislative reception in Jefferson City that was sponsored by the Missouri Retired Teachers’ Association. The purpose of this reception was to further discuss important issues in the realm of funding public education in Missouri.
