Response to new law ‘tremendous,’ Koster says

Attorney General Chris Koster said Friday that 61,219 cell phone numbers have been registered on Missouri’s no-call registry since June 14, the first day the expanded registry was available.

Missourians can register on the Attorney General’s website at

or by phone at (866) 662-2551.

Koster is calling for Missourians to register their cell phones after Gov. Jay Nixon signed into law House Bill 1549, which enables Missourians to register their cell phone numbers on the no-call list to avoid receiving unwanted telemarketing calls and text messages on their cell phones.

“The response to adding cell phones to the no-call registry has been tremendous,” Koster stated in a news release. “We want people to tell their family members, friends and coworkers that signing up is quick and easy, either on our website or by calling an automated number.”

The expanded law covers only cell phones primarily used for personal and family use. Cell phones used primarily for business are not covered. More than 1.8 million Missouri households currently are on the no-call registry for residential phones.
