Three Bernard Middle School seventh-graders were semifinalists in a recent Crestwood Elks Lodge essay contest.
Kyle Hampton, Mike Henson and Colin Loya each received a $50 savings bond for their essays about “What Old Glory Means to Me,” according to a news release.
The competition featured 396 pupils from 12 schools. Six semifinalists were selected.
Kyle Hampton was selected for the district competition and may participate at the state and national levels.
Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. James Henson and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Loya.
