Police unsuccessfully searched for a man standing on the Jefferson Barracks Bridge last Friday, but they are not sure if the incident is connected to the ongoing search for a man missing from Lemay.

The St. Louis County Police Department and the Columbia Fire Protection District from Columbia, Ill., responded to two calls from witnesses around 5:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, who separately reported seeing a man walking or standing on the JB Bridge, which connects Lemay to Columbia.

Neither of the callers said they saw the man jump from the bridge, police spokesman Officer Benjamin Granda said.

Officers and firefighters canvassed the river around the bridge but did not find anyone.

About 90 minutes before the calls from the bridge, south county native Haven Liebmann, 20, left the 100 block of East Loretta Avenue in Lemay and said he was going for a walk, according to a Facebook post by his mother, Karen Liebmann.

He has not been seen since, and police are actively searching for him.

Police do not know whether the person on the Jefferson Barracks Bridge might have been Liebmann, Granda said.

The East Loretta address is about 4.5 miles away from the JB Bridge, or a walk ranging from an hour to an hour and 20 minutes depending on the route taken.
