The St. Louis County Planning Commission heard a zoning amendment Aug. 22 to allow a new drive-thru drink restaurant at Ronnie’s Plaza on Lindbergh Boulevard and Baptist Church Road.
The proposal calls for a two-lane drive-thru-only restaurant called 7 Brew on the property. It does not include order stations — instead employees will stand and take orders from people in line. 7 Brew offers coffee, sodas, shakes and other beverages. There are currently no locations in St. Louis.
County staff recommended approval of the project, with a possible recommendation to require high-quality building materials.
Commissioners were in favor of the proposal but wanted to perfect some parts.
Commissioner Keith Taylor recommended the commission require booths or shade structures for order-taking employees for extreme weather. The condition was added to make sure shade structures are added to the final project.
Commissioner Bill Sneed said he liked the idea of requiring high-quality building materials, but he wasn’t sure if the requirement was fair compared to other recent approvals, like the Starbucks restaurant on Telegraph. Acting Director of Planning Jacob Trimble said staff can bring the proposal back and make sure it aligns with other projects.
The board voted unanimously to hold the petition to look at the changes in the future.
