St. Louis County’s construction project to replace the Old Baumgartner Road Bridge is underway over Mattese Creek in Oakville, as seen above Saturday morning. The 70-year-old bridge has been ripped out, but rain has postponed the construction of the new bridge beyond the October target date. The original bridge was damaged beyond repair in spring rains and has been closed since April, requiring detours on Baumgartner and Heintz roads.
