Peace Lutheran Church plans Vesper Service

The Rev. Dr. Robert Kolb, a professor at Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis who did graduate study in Europe, will preach at the German Christmas Vesper at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Road.

He will be preceded with music by the 18-voice Frauenchor — Ladies’ Chorus — of the St. Louis German Cultural Society.

The chorus will render seasonal numbers in German.

The Peace Lutheran Junior Choir, grades four to six, under the direction of Alice Kastens, will sing carols in the vernacular.

The Rev. Dennis A. Kastens, Peace pastor, will serve as liturgist. Layreaders will assist as lectors from area parishes.

The festive setting, including congregational singing, will be in German. However, English helps will be provided. High school, college and graduate students studying the language spoken by more than 140 million worldwide are welcome to attend along with worshippers of all ages.

The service will be broadcast at 1 p.m. Dec. 16 over KFUO (850) AM radio.
