Operation October to benefit USO of Missouri underway

The fifth annual Operation October to benefit the USO of Missouri is underway.

Please join local banks, credit unions and Call Newspapers in an effort to fill the wish list for military families this Thanksgiving. The October drive provides Thanksgiving meals — everything except the turkey — for active military families in this area.

Wish list

Volunteers assembled over 2.000 baskets in 2016 containing the items below and look forward to making 2017 even more successful.

• Box pie crust mix — please no frozen or pre-made crusts.
• Cans of Libby Pumpkin Pie Mix
• 14-ounce Can Cranberry Sauce
• Cans of Turkey Gravy — please no glass jars or packets.
• 13- to 16-ounce boxes instant mashed potatoes
• 28-ounce can green beans
• 16-ounce can sweet potatoes/yams
• 6-ounce box stuffing mix
• 12-ounce can evaporated milk
