The Oakville Tigers are riding into the 2025 volleyball season with momentum, returning a talented core and ready to make a deep postseason run.
Under the guidance of coach Lucas Allen, the team hopes to improve on last year’s strong showing and bring home a district title. Oakville wrapped up the 2024 season with a 14‑18‑2 overall record, including a 4‑1 mark in district play. While the schedule posed its challenges, the Tigers showed flashes of competitiveness throughout.
Back for another run are key returning varsity contributors Izzie Rysanek, Julia Stroup, Skyler Parks and Evelyn Haarmann.
Allen anticipates especially strong leadership from Rysanek and Parks, whose experience and consistency will be pivotal at critical moments on the court. Sophomore Lana Bakrac has also already made an impression in practice and could emerge as a key piece this season, while Emma Hlavsa quietly makes contributions behind the scenes, known for her calm presence and consistent effort.
Captains haven’t been named yet, but Allen emphasized that leadership is already emerging organically among the group.
“Success for this group means showing up every day, staying mentally tough and responding well to challenges,” Allen said. “Our biggest strength is the depth and skill of our pin hitters.”
Unlike many sports, there’s little offseason in volleyball, with players competing year-round on club teams. This year, Oakville held its high school camp, culminating with a scrimmage against Lafayette to fine-tune team play and rotations.
“The energy has been great,” said Allen. “We’ve built a solid foundation heading into the regular season.”
With experience, emerging talent and a resilient mindset, Oakville girls volleyball looks poised to turn last year’s foundation into a strong finish in 2025.
