Obituary For Roger Wayne Bailey
Roger Wayne Bailey, 73, of St. Louis, died May 2.
Roger was a larger-than-life figure whose life was transformed by Jesus Christ as an adult. He was always generous, even until the end, by donating his organs.
Roger was born on July 7, 1952, in St. Louis where he was raised and lived his entire life. He attended Roosevelt High School, worked as a professional wrestler — better known as “Big Daddy” — and as a hair stylist. After his wrestling career, he owned his own shop called Head Strong in the Dogtown area.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Darla Jean (née Shultz) Bailey, whom he married on Nov.13, 1993, at Tower Grove Baptist Church; his beloved sister, Cynthia Collins; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Aubrey Shultz; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold O. Bailey and Wanda J. (née Caldwell) Bailey; his brother, Paul Bailey; and his sister, Tina Cornwell.
A memorial service will be held at Providence Baptist Church, 2539 Rockford Ave., on May 7, at 6 p.m. Memorial flowers can be delivered directly to the church. In honor of Roger, please feel free to wear your favorite hat.
