With one returning state qualifier and a handful of other experienced runners, the Oakville boys cross country team is poised for success in 2026.

“We’re looking pretty solid again this year,” Oakville head coach Arlee Conners said. “Kids are working hard as always, and we’ve got a lot of motivation to do well again this season.”

Senior Lucas Wiegman returns as the Tigers top runner in 2026 after qualifying for the Missouri Class 5 state cross country championships last season. Wiegman also placed 26th overall at last season’s Class 5, District 1 championships.

“Lucas is definitely going to lead our charge this year,” Conners said. “He’s also one of the nicest kids you’ll ever meet and is a joy to coach. He’s been one of our top runners since he joined the program.”

Noah Jester is another senior on this year’s roster that the Tigers head coach has high hopes for in 2026.

“This is Noah’s fourth year in the program, and he’s shown improvement every year,” Conners said. “I expect him to make a big improvement on his times this season.”

Senior Austin Carnaghi is also expected to make a significant impact on this year’s squad.

“Austin is one of those kids you like having around in the program,” Conners said. “I expect to see Austin get better for us as the season progresses.”

Another runner to keep an eye on this season and for years to come is sophomore Dylan Dzubic.

“Dylan was our second-best runner last year behind Lucas, and he was very close to making the state championships,” Conners said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes it this year.”

The Tigers begin their 2026 season on Sept. 2 at the Fleet Feet Cross Country Classic at Arnold City Park.
