Most of the officers stayed the same as the Lindbergh Board of Education swore in two incumbent board members and started a new term.

When the board met last week to swear in the winners of the April 7 school board election, incumbent board Secretary Karen Schuster and board member Kate Holloway, the board also voted for new board officers for the next year.

By acclamation, board members voted unanimously to keep Kathleen Kienstra as president, Don Bee as vice president and Schuster as secretary.

When Kienstra opened nominations for the treasurer position, former Treasurer Kara Horton nominated board member Vicki Englund for the position, and the board unanimously voted to accept Englund’s nomination.

Horton had served as treasurer since 2011. She told the Call that she had more free time when she initially took on the treasurer position than she does now and she felt it was time to pass the position on to someone else.

“I think it’s just time for fresh blood to come over and revive it,” she said.

Englund told the Call it is always an honor to serve Lindbergh Schools in any capacity.

“We are probably one of the most fiscally responsible districts in the state, and it’s an honor to be nominated and voted on by our board,” she said.
