Most administrators see salary hikes ranging from 2% to 2.6% in Lindbergh

A majority of Lindbergh School District administrators received salary increases ranging from 2 percent to roughly 2.6 percent for the 2009-2010 school year while Superintendent Jim Simpson received a 5-percent pay hike.

Simpson will be paid $204,750, up from his 2008-2009 salary of $195,000.

Simpson succeeded Jim Sandfort, who retired June 30, 2008, after serving as superintendent for 17 years. Sandfort was paid $197,938 for the 2007-2008 school year, a nearly 5.6-percent increase over his 2006-2007 salary of $187,500.

Sandfort also received additional benefits, including paid family insurance and a monthly travel allowance, and Simpson now receives the same benefits.

The Board of Education voted in 2001 to adopt a 100-percent, performance-based compensation system to determine the salaries of all administrators except for the superintendent.

However, the compensation system was suspended for the 2009-2010 school year because of financial challenges facing the district.

With the exception of the superintendent, administrators receive the same benefits as other employees, such as an individual insurance package that includes health, hospitalization, dental, vision and life benefits.

Overall, administrative salaries for 2009-2010 increased by less than 1 percent compared to the previous year.

Salaries of Central Office administrators for the 2009-2010 school year are:

• Assistant Superintendent for Finance Pat Lanane will be paid $146,000, the same salary he received last year. For the 2007-2008 school year, he was paid $142,100.
