MoDOT to close exit ramps to interstates 270, 44 this weekend

The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Millstone Bangert, will close the exit ramp from eastbound

Interstate 44 to southbound Interstate 270 Friday evening, weather permitting.

Crews also will close the southbound I-270 exit ramp to eastboundI-44 this weekend. Both exit ramps will be closed due to the close distance to the work zone on southbound I-270 at I-44 and Rott Road. Crews will have temporary lane closures on southbound I-270 between I-44 and Gravois Road this weekend for bridge rehabilitation.

• From 9 p.m. Friday, July 15, until a.m. Monday, July 18, the ramp from eastbound I-44 to southbound I-270 will be closed.

• From 10 p.m. Saturday, July 16, until 6 a.m. Sunday, July 17, the southbound I-270 exit ramp to eastbound I-44 will be closed.

• From 9 p.m. Friday, July 15, until 5 a.m. Monday, July 18, two lanes of southbound I-270 between I-44 and Gravois Road will close, leaving only two lanes of southbound I-270 open to traffic.

Suggested weekend detour routes:

• During the weekend lane closures on southbound I-270, motorists are advised to use Route 141 as an alternative.

• During the closure of the eastbound I-44 ramp to southbound I-270, motorists are advised to use the Lindbergh exit (US

61/67) to Gravois to southbound I-270. Signs will be present to assist drivers with the detour.

• During the closure of the southbound I-270 exit ramp to eastbound I-44, motorists are advised to continue south on I-270 and exit at Gravois (Route 30) to northbound I-270 and exit to eastbound I-44. Signs will be present to assist drivers with the detour.

All work is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. Monday, July 18. All lanes will be shifted, with three left through lanes and one right through lane. All lanes will be narrowed to 11 feet. The work zone speed limit will be 45 miles per hour.

This work is part of the I-270 rehabilitation projects on the northbound and southbound I-270 bridges over Rott Road and the I-270 bridges over I-44.
