Melvin Oliver Kohler, 61, died May 15 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center.

Born in St. Louis County, Mr. Kohler resided in Affton. He was employed by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft where he was an engineer for 33 years. He was a former long-time volunteer fire captain and board member of the Shady Valley Fire District.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthy Kohler (nee Woods); daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jeff Jasso and Karen and Ron Donica; son and daughter-in-law, John and Shannon Kohler; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Royce and Cindy Irvin; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Joyce and Mike Maiorino; brother and sister-in-law, James and Janice Kohler; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Roger Decker; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Services and visitation were at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons, south county.
