Rebuilding and getting back to the basics is what the Mehlville girls golf team is going to be focused on for the 2026 season.

“We had multiple seniors graduate, so we’re in a rebuilding year,” Mehlville head coach Steve Kress said. “We’re going to focus on fundamentals this season, and we’ve reduced the number of tournaments that we’ll play in in order to focus more on our play in our duals.”

Sophomore Bethany Zylstra returns for the 2026 season after gaining a valuable year of experience on the varsity squad as a freshman.

“Bethany played for us last year and saw some good golf as a freshman,” Kress said. “She’s a team leader and is hitting the ball well this season.”

Another sophomore that will figure into the mix for the Panthers is Addi Heinemann.

“Addi is a soccer player that has a little bit of experience on the course,” Kress said. “She’s been taking lessons with former Panther Logan Daily, who played Division 1 golf at Chicago State.”

Amelia Brown enters her first season with the Panthers, and the sophomore will be someone to watch in years to come.

“Amelia is new to golf. She’s a swimmer that wanted to add an extra sport to the mix,” Kress said. “She works hard, and I think that by next year, we’re going to have her ready to compete.”

The Panthers begin their 2026 season on Sept. 1 as they take on Oakville at Castle Bluffs Golf Course.
