Matuszak Scholarship founded

Applications currently are being accepted by the Joe Matuszak Scholarship Com-mittee.

This $1,000 scholarship for high school seniors was established in the memory of the late Joe Matuszak of Concord.

Joe Matuszak was a conservative, pro-life activist who was instrumental in securing the election of many area Republicans.

He served as a Republican committeeman for many years and with his wife, Donna, helped form the Tesson Ferry Township Republican Club.

To commemorate his tireless effort and enthusiasm for conservative politics, the Joe Matuszak Scholarship Fund has been established to award a college-level scholarship yearly to a high school senior who exemplifies Joe Matuszak’s patriotic values. No proof of a political affiliation will be required for the nonpartisan scholarship.

The scholarship application must include a list of patriotic leadership activities, a recommendation from a youth leader or teacher and an essay on patriotism. The scholarship will be awarded at the Tesson Ferry Township Republican Club’s spring dinner. Complimentary dinner tickets will be provided for the recipient and parents.

For an application, call (314) 570-1177 or e-mail matuszaksfund@yahoo.com.
