The Sunset Hills Police Department has charged Stanley Fields, 43, with first-degree assault or attempt and armed criminal action for a series of aggressive car collisions that took place in October 2024. Charges are merely an accusation. Fields is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
On Oct. 11, 2024, outside of a Sunset Hills venue, there was a minor vehicle crash between the victim and Fields. When the two pulled over, Fields’s conduct reportedly made the victim feel unsafe, so the victim tried to drive away by getting off on the Highway 30 eastbound ramp from Highway 270 North. The victim was then rear-ended by Fields again.
The victim merged onto Highway 30, going eastbound, and was rear-ended twice more. Fields eventually drove onto the median on the driver’s side and drove the victim off the road in a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver, a tactic commonly used by law enforcement. When both exited their vehicles again, Fields took off his shirt and began chasing the victim around while shouting racial slurs.
By the time officers arrived, Fields was wearing a shirt and standing by his car. A witness on-scene described one of the collisions, the PIT maneuver and the foot chase around the car.
Ryan Dupree of the Sunset Hills Police Department says that he does not believe Fields will appear in court to the criminal summons because of his “extensive criminal history and violent actions in this case.
