Capt. Blake H. Turner, a U.S. naval dentist, took part in the Ultramax Triathalon at Tan-Tar-A Sept. 26-28 as part of his personal fitness regimen.

Turner is a career naval medical officer and a board-certified oral maxillo facial surgeon. Turner is program director of the oral maxillo facial surgery training program at the U.S. Naval Medical Center San Diego, the largest U.S. Naval Hospital.

His naval service has included tours at Camp Pendleton with the Fleet Marine Force, Okinawa with the Marine Rapid Deployment Force, deployment exercises in South Korea, Bethesda National Naval Medical Center Washington, D.C., aircraft carrier USS Midway during Desert Storm, U.S. Naval Hospital Subic Bay the Philippines, and the U.S. Navy Hospital ship U.S.S. Mercy.

He is the son of Richard and Shirley Turner of south county.
