Lindbergh wins record number of Top-Ten honors

All seven schools in the Lindbergh School District have something to celebrate as the district performed at the top of the state in Missouri Assessment Program performance.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Top-Ten lists recognize schools for high performance on the spring 2007 assessment for grades three through eight, 10 and 11 in communication arts and mathematics.

“The schools in Lindbergh School District have increased their presence on these lists each year,” Nancy Rathjen, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Nancy Rathjen stated in a district news release.

“The 2007 results designate Lindbergh as the only district in the state with more than four buildings where every school made the list,” she continued. “This kind of top recognition is a result of the hard work of our teachers and students. The recognition is well-deserved.”

The Lindbergh School District received its first No. 1 ranking with Truman Elementary School’s fifth-grade math scores.

Crestwood, Long and Truman elementary schools made the Top-Ten lists in three testing categories and Lindbergh High School earned placement on both the communication arts and mathematics lists.

Kennerly and Sappington Elementary and Sperreng Middle School each earned one placement on the list.

Board of Education President Mark Rudoff stated in the release, “These results are reflective of a team commitment of the entire Lindbergh instructional community to focus on kids first and deliver a quality education to all who attend our schools.”

Superintendent Jim Sandfort stated in the release, “The real difference our staff has made lies in the future they have opened for our students.

“The rankings are terrific, but it is even more satisfying to know that behind every one of those statistics our students now have a better chance in life because we have positioned them for success,” the superintendent said.
