Lindbergh to break ground on new buildings

Lindbergh Schools officials planned to break ground Wednesday morning — after the Call went to press — on a brand-new early childhood education, or ECE, building and a renovated elementary school.

The new ECE building will be constructed next to the district’s Administration Building at 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd. while Concord School, which currently houses the district’s ECE program at 10305 Concord School Road, will be converted into an elementary school.

The projects kick off construction for Proposition R 2008, a $31 million bond issue approved by district voters in November 2008 that will reduce overcrowding in the district and create a second neighborhood middle school.

The Board of Education voted unanimously last week to award a $15.5 million contract for the two projects to Diestelkamp Construction Co., the lowest bidder.
