Sunday Night Lights, set this Sunday at the Lindbergh High School football stadium, recreates a Friday night high school football experience for children who are battling cancer and other life-altering childhood illnesses.

The Lindbergh Schools community presents its 14th annual Sunday Night Lights event Oct. 8 for children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

The event unites the Lindbergh Schools community and other community organizations to recreate a Friday night high school football game experience under the stadium lights at Lindbergh High School, designed to give kids the chance to attend a “normal” night of fun away from hospital visits and cancer treatments.

Participants can decide whether they want to play football, march in the band, cheerlead or dance with the dance team.

The public is invited to attend for free, however donations are appreciated. For more information about volunteering or donating, visit snlheroes.org.

The public is encouraged to fill the stands at the LHS athletic field, 5000 Lindbergh Blvd., starting at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8.

“I hope everyone will join us in cheering on our heroes at Sunday Night Lights this year,” Sunday Night Lights executive board member Valerie Creech said.

Sunday Night Lights began in 2010 when freshman Jake Franzel was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. The event was started to honor Jake and other children with similar stories.
