After suffering a six-game losing streak to start the new year, the Lindbergh High School boys’ basketball team has won two of its last three games.

The Flyers (7-12, 1-3 Suburban West) beat Parkway Cen-tral 59-51 last Friday.

“It felt really good to get out of the losing column,” Lindbergh head coach Jason Wolfard told the Call.

“We knew that Parkway Central was going through some struggles and our goal was to come out and play hard. I think we did that.”

Tyler Kiel and Richard Williams led the Flyers with 14 points each.

Kiel also racked up eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in the win over the Colts. The sophomore forward was above his average of 9.8 points and 6.6 rebounds a game this season.

“Tyler came out and was really aggressive,” Wolfard said. “He played the way we know that he should. Parkway Central really had trouble matching up with him.”

Williams also recorded four rebounds with one steal and one assist against the Colts. The senior guard has had the hot hand this season, scoring 17 points per game leading the Flyers in assists with 62 and steals with 28.

“Richard’s been going through a tough streak as far as his shooting goes, but he’s coming out of it,” Wolfard ex-plained. “I see him getting more and more shots and scoring more for us for the rest of the season.”

The Flyers are at home at 7 p.m. Friday against Fox in a Suburban West Conference match.

The Warriors also have won two of their last three games and are led by the duo of senior guard Brian Ellison, who tallies 13.9 points with 3.9 rebounds per game, and junior center John Hendricks, who notches 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Wolfard hopes to pose some mismatch problems with players like Kiel, who led the Flyers to their victory over Parkway Central.

“They (Fox) are pretty good in their half court game,” Wolfard said. “Overall though, I think we pose some mismatch problems for them on the inside game.”
