After graduating nine seniors from last year’s team that went 17-11 the Lindbergh girl’s volleyball team would appear to be in a rebuilding year. That is if you don’t have seven seniors on your 2023 roster.
“It’s a great problem to have for players that are looking for the opportunity to play,” Lindbergh head coach Atom Zuniga said. “Right now, we’re looking to put all the pieces together.”
The Flyers have three senior captains in Bailey Boehm, Willa Hollander and Morgan Ribble.
Boehm is an outside hitter that recorded 177 kills, 21 blocks, 21 assists and 42 digs during the 2022 campaign.
“Bailey is a big piece for our success this season,” Zuniga said. “She will play a big part of our offense in every match.”
Hollander is a libero that led the Flyers last season with 281 digs while also and 54 assists.
“Willa is a defensive stronghold for us,” Zuniga said. “She commands a presence on the court, especially on the defensive side of the ball.”
At right side hitter is Ribble who racked up 62 kills, 32 blocks and 35 digs in 2022.
“Morgan is strong as a blocker and has grown as a blocker this season,” Zuniga said. “We’re hoping to have her healthy for the second half of the season.”
Seniors Carrie Waschmann, Molly Patten, Claire Painter and Sam Yemm are also going to be key pieces to the Flyers success in 2023.
“They going to play key roles for us from a maturity standpoint,” Zuniga said. “They are the key to our success this season.”
Junior Ellie Huckstep will see action at outside hitter, middle hitter and right side hitter this season.
“Her ability to close blocks from pin to pin has grown tremendously this season,” Zuniga said. “She’s a big part of our team’s success this year.”
