With a unique blend of veterans and freshmen on this season’s roster, the Lindbergh girls cross country team is prepared for success in 2026.
“Our numbers are good,” Flyers head coach Brian Hilton said. “We’ve got a good group of kids with a neat mix of veterans that did a lot of work in the offseason, but also a lot of talented freshmen.”
Senior Maggie Finn returns this season and will be looked upon as a key to the Flyers success once the district championships roll around this fall.
“Maggie usually comes on strong for us near the end of the year, which is just in time for districts,” Hilton said. “I think she’s done more offseason running this past summer than she’s ever done before, so I’m excited to see how she does.”
Another senior to watch this season is Becca Thomas, who should be one of the leaders on this year’s squad.
“Becca is a committed runner that’s done a lot of summer training,” Hilton said. “She’s the kind of leader on this year’s team that the other girls listen to and respect.”
Senior Lola Kutrip has also put in a significant amount of work this past summer, and Hilton is looking forward to seeing what she can accomplish this season.
“Like the other girls, Lola’s put in a lot of work over the summer,” Hilton said. “Her confidence is growing, and I’m excited to see what she can do for us this season.”
Junior Laura Buckley is coming off a successful track season last spring, which may be a preview of how well she does this year according to the Flyers head coach.
“Laura made some really big jumps for us in track last year,” Hilton said. “When they run track in the spring, we usually see some pretty big improvements in cross country the following fall season.”
The Flyers open their 2026 season at Jackson on Aug. 29.
