Lindbergh athletes earn All-American honors

Lindbergh athletes Jennie Weaver and Alex Rosenberger earned the prestigious title of All-American at the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics track and field competition in Des Moines, Iowa.

Alex, a ninth-grader at Lindbergh High, competed in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and the high jump. She placed second out of more than 40 competitors in the high jump, clearing a 5-foot, 2-inch bar.

Jennie, an eighth-grader at Truman Middle School, achieved new personal best times in the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter races. She placed sixth in the 1,500 and third in the 3,000.

“Every athlete competing at the Junior Olympics has already qualified regionally, so the competition is very stiff,” Tom Gose, Lindbergh High track and field coach, stated in a news release. “Only the top eight girls in each event earn the title of All-American, so both of these talented athletes had a tremendous summer. We are very proud of their accomplishments.”
