This season could go down as one of the best ever for the Lindbergh girls golf team after taking fifth at last year’s Class 4, District 1 tournament.
“We have a total of 24 players on our varsity and JV (junior varsity) teams, which makes us the largest girls golf team in the state,” Lindbergh head coach Mike Tyler said. “However, we graduated a large number of seniors last year, so we will need some of our younger varsity players to step up and help replace those players for us to remain competitive.”
Senior Reese Reinhardt is coming off a 16th-place finish at the 2023 Missouri Class 5 state championships and writing her own story as one of the best golfers ever at Lindbergh.
“Reese is a great player who is always on the leaderboard, if not winning every tournament we play,” Tyler said. “She’s a really smart player who also has the skill to play the course and not have the course play her. I’d consider her our best golfer in the past 25 years and definitely one of the all-time Lindbergh greats.”
Other seniors to watch are Audrey Scarpace, Maddy Boyd, Anna Schrage and captain Emma Ramsey. Tyler said they bring a combination of experience and maturity that Lindbergh will need for the district and state tournaments.
One player that has already stepped into a critical role in the lineup is sophomore Madison Keating.
“Madison missed the state cut line last year by a stroke or two, so the fire is burning to not just make it, but make it easily,” Tyler said. “She is focused, driven and arrives hours before practice starts and the last to leave. I’m expecting a great season from her again this year.”
The Flyers head coach believes that juniors Caroline Dull and Maddi Brennan could be the most important pieces to the Flyers success in 2024.
“They could very well be the missing piece we need to get a team to state,” Tyler said. “They’ve made some swing changes that are working well, so good things could be coming their way.”
