To the editor:

I was privileged to be invited to “A Summer Community Band Concert” presented by the Mehlville School District. It was held in the Nottlemann Auditorium on July 28. This is the second concert in as many years held by the district.

I say privileged because the concerts were free and I thoroughly enjoyed the music.

The band participants are parents of students in the district, alumni of the district, band parents, students, teachers and employees of the district, and members of the community. The conductors are past and present band directors in the district and other invitees.

All of the participants devote time from their busy schedules to perfect and practice their musical skills. That devotion and love of music was shown by their performance.

I would like to express my gratitude to the band members and conductors for your presentation of a wonderful and entertaining selection of music.

Our school district is to be commended for offering the use of the auditorium and assistance it provided.

I only wish this event would have been publicized to a greater extent. You don’t know what you missed if you didn’t attend.
