League seeking volunteers for 2005 season

The International Khoury League in south county is seeking volunteers to help with team organization for the 2005 season, according to a news release.

The organization also needs volunteer association spokesmen and concession-stand workers.

The Khoury League is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping young people out of trouble and involved in sports, the release stated.

The Khoury program, which began with youth baseball leagues, now includes soccer and girls’ softball.

Leagues of all ages are welcome, but the organization’s emphasis is on assisting young people in need.

George M. Khoury founded the league in 1936 when he acted on a suggestion from his wife, Dorothy, and organized a baseball league so their three sons and other boys in the neighborhood would have somewhere to play, according to the release.

The International Khoury League is at 5400 Meramec Bottom Road.

For additional information or to volunteer, call the Khoury League at (314) 849-8900.
