Lawrence W. “Larry” Kuban, 68, died Nov. 6.

Mr. Kuban served as the first mayor of the city of Green Park. Though Bill Gerdemann was appointed mayor of the new city in 1995, he resigned from the post before the official incorporation ceremony, and the County Council appointed Mr. Kuban to replace him. Mr. Kuban was elected to the mayoral post in 1996.

He was a talented photographer, an experienced pilot, a 50-year member of the Civil Air Patrol as a lieutenant colonel and an Eagle Scout with lifelong involvement.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (nee Schuermann); daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Todd Mitchell; sons and daughter-in-law, Chris Kuban and Bryan and Angie Kuban; siblings, Bob Kuban and Donna Kuban; and three grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, 11019 Mueller Road.
