Christopher Watkins, a senior from Hancock Place High School, was named the recipient of the 2024 President’s Student Scholarship by the Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO). The MoASBO Recognition Committee announced Watkins’ selection in April, highlighting his extensive leadership and volunteer experience.
“Chris’s background includes a wide variety of leadership and volunteer experiences, which will be an asset to his future success,” Paul Northington, MoASBO Board of Directors president and CFO for Hancock Place School District, stated in a press release.
Watkins served as the senior class president and was an athlete in both cross-country and track. His involvement extended to other student programs such as STUCO, Renaissance Club, HOSA and involvement in various community events including Donuts with Santa, Veterans Breakfast, Tiger Choice Awards and Parents as Teachers events. He also volunteered with Special Olympics, Read Across America and Meals on Wheels.
“Chris is an outstanding student and well deserving of this recognition and scholarship from MoASBO. The President’s Scholarship is a great way for MoASBO to connect with and support students who will become our next generation of leaders,” Northington said.
Watkins plans to attend Saint Louis University in the fall, where he intends to pursue a degree in business administration.
