Four local dancers recently performed in an orchestral concert presented as part of “Women in the Arts” Con-ference at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Kelsey Whalen, Mallory Hensel, Katelyn Welker and Victoria Greco danced in “American Solstice,” an original piece composed by local composer Barbara Harbach, and choreographed by St. Louis native Jennifer Medina, a faculty member at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Harbach based “American Solstice” on fiddle tunes that capture the American frontier spirit.

The four local dancers will perform in a St. Louis Youth Dance Theater concert at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Plaza Frontenac. The concert is the group’s annual Christmas performance and is free to the public.
