Four Lindbergh High School students recently qualified to attend the International DECA competition that will take place April 25 through April 30 in Atlanta, Ga.
Seniors James Smoot, Amar Jasarevic and Almir Pervan and sophomore Maria Dipaola qualified to compete in the international event.
“These winners completed a 100-question test in their area along with performing role-play scenarios before judges, and the students who received medals completed a research paper on ‘green’ marketing and a 20-minute presentation before judges,” Michelle Totra, Lindbergh marketing instructor and DECA adviser, stated in a district news release.
The four qualified by participating in the DECA State Career Development Conference at Lake Ozark. Other Lindbergh students participating were: sophomore Bobby Justice; junior Rob Soete; and seniors Eric Bigogno, Jonny Griffiths, Jami Hanak, Arvin Karibasic, Ted Key, Katy Miller, Janet Pierce, Derek Shrum, Matt Watkins and Stephanie Weiland.
“These students advanced to the state competition following district-level competition in February,” Totra stated. “Our students were competing against the top students in the state.”
More than 1,400 high school students from across Missouri convened at the annual conference. Students tested their skills in 35 competitive events related to real-world topics.
