Forum planned by anti-pornography groups

Anti-pornography organizations have planned events to alert the public to the problem and danger of pornography and obscenity, according to Carl Hendrickson, chairman of Citizens Against Pornography.

The Citizens Against Pornography and the Jefferson County affiliate of the American Family Association will co-sponsor a forum on “Sexual Addiction and Healing” Satur-day, Oct. 29, at the First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City, 107 Truman Blvd. — Highway 61-67. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the forum will follow at 9 a.m. The event will conclude at noon with a complimentary light lunch.

“The panelists consist of Patrick Fleming, a professional counselor with 11 years’ ex-perience treating individuals and families where sexual addiction is a problem; Jim Venice, director of Pure Hearts Ministries, who will speak on healing those with same-sex addictions; and Jeana Imergoot from Mothers Against Sexual Exploitation, who will discuss protecting children from the sexually transmitted disease epidemic in society,” Hendrickson stated in a news release.

On Sunday, Oct. 30, area churches will participate in the annual White Ribbon Against Pornography campaign. White ribbons will be distributed to parishioners, who will be asked to display them in some manner during White Ribbon Against Porn-ography Week, which continues through Nov. 6, to reflect their abhorrence to porn-ography and obscenity and their stand for morality and decency.
