The Green Park Board of Aldermen approved a final development plan July 17 for a credit union to redevelop the former Ari’s restaurant at 9992 Lin Ferry Drive.
Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union is seeking to redevelop the former restaurant, which closed at the end of 2022, into a credit union with a drive-thru. The final development plan includes a redesign of the building’s facade and new landscaping.
Ward 1 Alderman Michael Broughton voiced concerns about sight visibility for drivers exiting from Lin Ferry Drive onto Tesson Ferry Road, especially with the potential for increased traffic from the credit union.
“We need to do something with that intersection. You have huge trees that are blocking peoples’ view down Tesson,” Broughton said. “We ought to do everything we can legally do to get that line of sight corrected.”
City Engineer Derrick Madej said the city needed to check with the Missouri Department of Transportation to ensure the sight way wasn’t in MoDOT right-of-way, although City Attorney Paul Rost pointed out the city might have better luck just asking the property owner at the intersection to clean up the area.
City Administrator James Mello said he would contact the property owners to see if they would be willing to clean up the line of sight while the credit union was redeveloping.
“It would be nice to let these people at the credit union know that we’re thinking about them and their customers also,” Broughton said.
