The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office has charged a Florissant man with the robbery of a south county bank earlier this week.

Brian J. Schappe, 27, of the 1200 block of Cheyenne Drive, Florissant, was charged Wednesday — Jan. 25 — with robbery in the first degree, according to police. Schappe currently is being held on $50,000 bond.

At about 3 p.m. Tuesday, St. Louis County Police officers from the South County Precinct responded to a call of a robbery at the Southern Commercial Bank at 6969 S. Lindbergh Blvd. A man entered the bank and demanded money, according to police. The subject was detained at the scene by a security officer employed by the bank. No one was injured.

St. Louis County Police detectives from the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons responded to conduct the investigation and presented the charges to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office on Wednesday, according to a news release.
